It was intended to be a single window to Canadian Aboriginal on-line resources, contacts, information, and government programs and services. The portal offered ease of access and navigation to listings of Aboriginal associations, businesses, organizations, bands, communities, groups, news and peoples.
A web portal is larger in scope than a site, it's more like a gateway to web based information and services of common interest. The information in this portal was organized and displayed from a user's point of view. The Aboriginal Canada Portal linked to related sites like the following in an organized manner: National Aboriginal Organizations, 12 Federal Government departments with Aboriginal mandates, all Provincial Governments and organizations with Aboriginal responsibilities, as well as all related Aboriginal community information.
